Mama Awards Is Back Bigger And Better

After a long hiatus, MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) will be back on our screens. The 7th edition of the highly anticipated event will be held in Kampala in partnership with Uganda’s Ministry of Tourism.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2021 edition will be a virtual show, broadcasted to MTV’s global audience in 180 countries and will air locally on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and MTV Africa (DStv Channel 130) on 20 February 2021.

To further confirm that this year’s edition is not like anything you’ve seen before, the host is none other but Grammy Award-winning DJ and record executive, DJ Khaled who will “anchor the virtual awards ceremony from his glamorous home in Miami, Florida, alongside other African co-emcees.”

DJ Khaled in his acceptance speech said:
MTV has always been a great partner so I jumped at the opportunity to host this year’s MAMAs. I can’t wait to celebrate the incredible music that comes out of Africa, which has inspired me throughout my career.

This year’s lineup is sure to keep music fans glued to their screens and dancing along as MAMA promises a star-studded performance lineup, featuring the biggest Music Acts on African soil. Some of whom include Nasty C, Wizkid, Sheebah Karungi, Diamond Platnumz, Khaligraph Jones, Suspect 95, Soraia Ramos, Calema. According to Le’Afrinique, more performers will be announced in the next few days.
