Kanye West has just delivered on his promise as he releases Wash Us In The Blood, the lead track off his anticipated album – God’s Country.
The 43-year old rapper recognises the ability of a supernatural force to restore sanity in the affairs of men, as he raps
“Holy Spirit come down…holy spirit help now…rain down on us…wash us in the blood”
In case you missed it, Kanye now professes the Christian faith. Therefore, ‘Blood’ in this context literally means ‘Blood of Jesus’, not necessarily a violent instigation of the public.
The lyrics of the song sits perfectly with the Arthur Jafa-directed music video. The video opens up on a crowd of protesters who just clashed with the police, and sufficiently captured other social realities of these desperate times.
Wash Us In The Blood, mixed by the legendary Dr. Dre, is an intense juxtaposition of race and faith, released under G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam Records.
