Wisconsin-born rapper and singer, Jidenna, drops latest solo track which he calls “Black Magic Hour“.
“Black Magic Hour,” is the artist’s first release off his forthcoming project – African On All Sides.
On this track, Jidenna, depicts the essence and significance of the spiritual aspect of the African. According to him, if the African will be appreciated, there is a dire need embrace her spiritual worth.
Just like the song lyrics, the music video is inspired by traditional practice of African Voodoo. The Wesley Walker and Sam Pressman-directed video utilizes fire colours and Jidenna is seen floating, as he encounters a Spirit.
In a recent interview, he disclosed :
“I think in these times the song becomes important because what I’m really speaking to is centralizing our power in a way that we channel our economic worth and we channel our spiritual worth into our lifestyle I don’t believe that we can have the economic progress that we need to empower communities without the spiritual progression. And If we do not focus there, we will never see our worth in our bodies if we don’t see our worth in our spirit.”
Jidenna’s forthcoming album would be accompanied by a documentary.
