After being off the music scene for close to a year and a half, Demi Lovato is back with a powerful ballad titled “Anyone”.
The 27-year-old singer was betrayed by emotions as she mounted the stage to debut the song live at the Grammys’ and upon completion, the Pop star was given a rousing ovation.
The studio version of her heart-wrenching new song wasted no time in finding its way to the playlist of online music platforms for streaming and downloads.
Lovato claimed she wrote the song four days prior to her drug overdose in July 2018. Its not hard to believe as the lyrics details a feeling of helplessness as she addressed her deepest vulnerabilities.
I tried to talk to my piano… I tried to talk to my guitar… Talk to my imagination… Confided into alcohol… I feel stupid when I sing… Nobody’s listening to me… Lord, is there anyone?… I need someone, oh
Its indeed a deep rooted song about struggles with alcohol and substance addiction. In December 2018 (5 months after the incident), the former Disney star came out to say she was now “sober” and “grateful to be alive.”
