Recording Academy, organizers of the annual Grammy Awards have recently revealed that the Wizkid deal with RCA is the biggest recording deal ever to be signed by an African act.
The agreement between WizKid and RCA Records (a subsidiary of Sony Music International) was penned back in 2017, but remains the biggest record label deal in Africa yet.
NotJustOk reported that Wizzy received a whooping 7 figure upfront payment for RCA to handle his distribution deal in the United States.
In another development, the “Ojuelegba,” singer’s United Bank of Africa (UBA) Endorsement Deal is also quoted as the biggest in the Africa music scene.
Wizkid joined UBA as Brand Ambassador for a deal worth over $3 million. An amount which covers performances, adverts and partnership with the foremost financial institution.
After the deal was signed the singer was quoted as saying:
What we are doing right now; UBA and Starboy is one of the biggest footsteps that can ever happen in the creative space.
