Fine Line is Harry Styles’ second studio album recorded between February and July 2019. It’s of the Pop Rock genre.
The former One Direction band member earlier in the year released 3 singles preceding the 12-song album’s official release : Lights Up, Watermelon Sugar and Adore You.
Just like the old saying that “there is a fine line between love and hate, pleasure and pain”, Styles is quoted as saying the album was “all about having sex and feeling sad.”
In 2018, a few months before starting work on the album, Harry broke up with his girlfriend, Camille Rowe with some lyrics in the album subtly talking about the French model.
“I’m well aware I write too many songs about you,”
“I just miss your accent and your friends, did you know I still talk to them?”
“I’m just an arrogant son of a bitch who can’t admit when he’s sorry.”
In the build-up of the album release, Harry in collaboration with Columbia Records pulled off what could be referred to as one of the biggest marketing pranks of 2019. ‘The Eroda Island Campaign’.
Hype about the fictitious, larger-than-life island was soon to be discovered as a brilliant plot to arrouse fan’s interest in Styles’ new album and most especially the track ‘Adore You’ which was erroneously spelt backwards as Eroda.
All in all, the album is a good listen. Enjoy it here:
