Disney launches its Streaming channel: Disney+

Disney Plus is finally here, after years of preparation & partnerships. Disney called this streaming service the future of its company.

Disney+ officially launched in the early hours of Tuesday (November 12th) in the US, Canada and Netherland. Next up is Australia and New Zealand with Nov. 19 as launch date.

By March 31, 2020, it will launch across Western Europe, including the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and a number of other countries in the region. Globally, Disney plans a progressive rollout over the next two years.

This gradual progression is necessitated as the massive influx of eager subscribers caused a glitch within the system on launch day. Its since been resolved however.

Disney Plus’ library is home to almost 500 original films and 7,500 episodes of television series. It boasts of “endless movies and TV shows, that’s always ad free.”

The platform would serve as the entertainment giant’s streaming destination for almost everything it creates, both past and present. Conveniently taking on Netflix on a run for its money as well as emerging rivals (Apple TV Plus and HBO Max).

Disney+ is cheaply priced at $7 monthly subscription in the US, or a discounted $70 (instead of $84) if you opt for the annual subscription plan. Disney also made a deal with Verizon to give its customers a free 1 year streaming access.

Amazingly, at such pocket friendly price, Disney plus offer comes at no extra charge for its add-on perks like 4k Ultra HD, HDR10, 4-devices simultaneous streams, Dolby Atmos immersive audio, unlimited mobile downloads for offline viewing. Unlike its rival streaming platforms.

Disney’s other streaming services, Hulu (ad supported) and sports-centric ESPN Plus would also run on the same platform. Subscription to the triple service bundle is also heavily discounted at $13 a month.

Disney Fans are in for a swell time of entertainment as you can stream exclusively all of Disney’s theatrically released movies, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic, Fox and all 30 seasons of The Simpsons.

Unrelenting, Disney Plus also plans a gamut of original documentaries, reality shows, competition series, behind-the-scenes features, nature and adventure titles, animated programming, incubator program for innovative filmmakers. Wow, the list goes on and on. Disney+
