Designer for Y-3, Yohji Yamamoto is back with the a new editorial for its Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
Y-3’s Spring/Summer 2019 campaign was brought to life by stylist Haley Wollens and photographer Angelo Pennetta, who decided to shoot the new editorial at a shipyard in Los Angeles. Notably, Y-3’s latest seasonal effort aims to propel the limits of “innovation, technology and functionality,” and takes some of its inspirational cues from parachuting and sailing.
“The Spring/Summer 2019 campaign captures some of the season’s most directional pieces,” reads the official statement attached to Y-3’s new Spring/Summer 2019 lookbook. “The imagery is rendered in a casual, offhand aesthetic that contrasts with the fluidity of the clothing. The sun-bleached primary colors of rusted equipment bring focus to the campaign’s black-and-white apparel and footwear. Presented editorial-style, each photograph distills the essence of the season on its own.”
